Tech Tutors LLC
Mission Statement
Tech Tutors LLC is a nonprofit whose mission is to ensure that older adults in Illinois can participate safely and confidently in the digital world. We deliver free, patient-led classes and one-on-one tutoring in computers, smartphones, and tablets, and we integrate phishing and scam-prevention training into every program. Based in Kankakee County and registered to serve statewide, we meet learners where they are, move at a pace that prioritizes retention over speed, and provide clear, step-by-step instruction in plain language.
Our model pairs small-group classes with unhurried Q&A, hands-on practice, and optional tutoring for those who need extra support. We remove common barriers by offering large-print guides, accessible materials, and device access through donated or low-cost equipment and mobile hotspots. We prioritize seniors who feel left behind. Especially low-income residents, rural communities, and caregivers, while welcoming all older adults who want to build skills and stay safe online.
We work through local partners, libraries, senior centers, churches, housing communities, veteran and caregiver organizations, and financial institutions, to deliver programs close to home and to strengthen fraud-prevention efforts.
We measure impact with brief pre/post surveys, a simple phishing-awareness check, attendance and completion data, and 30–60-day follow-ups that confirm real-world use of new skills (email, telehealth portals, video calls) and the adoption of safer practices (strong passwords, multi-factor authentication).
Our vision is a world where no senior is isolated, excluded, or exploited because of technology. By combining patience, practicality, and protection, Tech Tutors helps older adults click with confidence—staying connected to family, services, and community while navigating the internet safely.
